Whenever it comes to evaluation of contemporary poetry, we often tend to be 'backward looking'- that is preferring the old to the recent. We prefer 'established names' to the newer voices. This has happened in every age, it has happened even with Kolatkar, Chitre and Dhasal whom you admire. This is happening even to us. Hence, your preferences of the dead over the new, in my view is a common perception. We tend to be sentimental and nostalgic. However, we will have to die too and I am sure there would be a small nostalgic and sentimental bunch of readers sighing at passing away of late Sachin Ketkar or late Dnyananda. It requires lot of discipline to distinguish between a sentimental-nostalgic response to a poem and critical engagement. So lets get out of mourning mode and search for quality writing which always a rarity in every period.Sachin C. Ketkarhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09429849773311198305noreply@blogger.com
